Understanding URLs for DOD and US government websites – Getting a .EDU Domain URL
FORT MEADE, MD —
Military education and training institutions can qualify for a .EDU domain if they achieve accreditation from a US Dept of Education authorized accrediting body. More information about the eligibility requirements for the .EDU is located at https://net.educause.edu/eligibility.htm.
Once the organization is fully accredited, to acquire the .EDU go to https://www.educause.edu/ and apply.

New OMB Policy Requiring all Agencies to use .mil or .gov URLs

* Effective on the date of this memorandum, agencies must use government domains (i.e., .gov or .mil) for all official communications
* Agencies can no longer waiver the dot gov or dot mil website requirement. Only OMB can provide a dot com waiver going forward
* All non-dot mil or dot gov websites must be reported to OMB within 180 days
